Heaps of parents came to support the schools and students. Ka pai! At Weymouth the students got active playing touch rugby, tug-o-war, relay sack races, soccer and jump rope out on the field. Dozens of smokefree spot prizes were won, including; sun caps, drink bottles, pens, mints, lip balm, lanyards, t-shirts, stickers and sports balls. Community groups and health providers put up stalls for the parents giving information on giving up smoking, healthy eating and child safety. In the classrooms students attended pacific and youth oriented workshops on smokefree, gambling and mental health.

The student performances were awesome; then Stacey Morrison and Indira Moala took the stage, grabbed everyone’s attention and had everyone laughing; then last but not least was the staff karaoke performance starring Mr. Hendricks as lead singer. Congratulations to the guys who woke early about 4am to cook the hāngi; it was delicious.
We look forward to another fun whānau day next year!
